Robbie Shields opened the scoring a few minutes before the interval, but the Magpies levelled almost immediately Nicholas Gray came on as a substitute for James Milner and it was he who restored the Leeds lead in the second half but once more Newcastle hit back immediately. The game was played at Thorp Arch.
